Students Hold Fundraiser For Classmate

Sioux Falls, SD

Edison Middle School students and parents washed cars Saturday in Sioux Falls, accepting free-will donations to help with a classmate's medical bills.

13-year-old Skylar Burchardi broke his pelvis and jaw in addition to suffering a concussion when a vehicle allegedly driven by Lois Two Bulls struck him at a July 13 car show in Sioux Falls. Classmates and their parents washed cars in the parking lot of CorTrust Bank on the corner of 26th Street and Marion Avenue in Sioux Falls, accepting donations for their injured friend as they worked.

“This group put it, the students, put it together, and they're just showing some support for a classmate, which is great, I mean it shows that they've got some caring hearts and are very supportive,” parent Evan Hackett said.

Burchardi's friends and their parents washed cars from two to four-thirty this afternoon.
