Sioux Falls, SD
Big changes are coming to the Sioux Falls School District as Superintendent Pam Homan announced she's stepping down in June of 2015.
When her contract is up, Homan will have been superintendent of the state's largest district for 11 years.
She's spent her 34 year education career as a teacher, principal and administrator, with the last 25 years as an employee of the Sioux Falls School District. The superintendent didn't give a specific reason for the decision, but she did say demanding position took a toll on her personal life. Many parents across the district say Homan will be leaving behind a great academic environment.
“She empowered teachers; equip kids and parents, teachers. I think she really did a great job advancing education in Sioux Falls,” Brent Eliason said.
Homan says the process to find the next superintendent will begin Monday at the next school board meeting.
But people do have some changes they would like to see the future superintendent make. We will take a look at some of them tonight on KELOLAND Weekend News at 10.
