Sioux Falls, SD
A Sioux Falls community college will close its doors because of declining enrollment.
On Friday, Kilian Community College announced it will cease operation on May 31, 2016. Classes and scholarships will be offered through the winter and spring semesters.
New students enrolled for the winter term can request a full refund. School officials are working on plans to provide students an option to complete their degrees.
"This was a very difficult decision. Kilian has a rich, 38-year history of serving our community," President Mark Millage said. "But the reality is that the business of higher education is changing at a very rapid pace. New, local initiatives along with the external competitive landscape put our future in doubt."
