Input Wanted On SF School Consolidation Plan

sioux falls, sd

The Sioux Falls School Board is holding a public input session Monday night to discuss the possible consolidation of three elementary schools.

If approved, the district would close Longfellow and Jefferson Elementary Schools and replace Mark Twain Elementary with a much larger school.

The district says enrollment is declining and notes that the aging buildings are in need of improvements.  A board-commissioned study says extending the life of Longfellow and Mark Twain by 20 years could cost $4 million per building and that one new school may be a better investment.

This is just one plan the district is considering.  To give your input, you're invited to the public input session which begins at 7 p.m. at the district's Instructional Planning Center.
