Answers

#1   During installation I get the error message "The application is missing required files"

This error occurs when your default browser is something other than Microsoft Internet Explorer.

To work around this problem first make sure that the .NET Framework 2.0 is installed on your machine then paste the link below into Internet Explorer.

#2   How do I uninstall my existing KELO Desktop application?

Windows XP

• Start -> Run -> Control Panel


• Click on Add or Remove Programs


• Select KeloDesktop from the list and click Remove


• Close Add Remove


• Close Control Panel

Windows 2000

• Start -> Settings -> Control Panel


• Click Add/Remove Programs


• Select KeloDesktop from the list and click Change/Remove


• Click Close


• Close Control Panel

#3   I do not have administrator privledges on my machine, can I still install KELOLAND.com Desktop?

You will have to contact your IT department and have them install the KELOLAND.com Desktop software on your machine.

#4   I'm behind a firewall or proxy and the desktop doesn't work properly.

Please upgrade to the newest version of the KELOLAND.com Desktop and modify the proxy settings.

NOTE: This is an advanced technique and if not set up properly will cause the application to stop downloading data.

1. Right click on the temp in the tastbar and select help -> check for update.
2. Install the update
3. Once the application has been updated and restarts click on the menu/options button.
4. Click the internet tab.
5. Enable the proxy server and enter the address and port of your proxy.
6. Click ok

If your proxy informtion is correct the data should update almost immediatly. In order to get new closing listings and weather alerts you will have to restart the application.

#5   Is any spyware installed with this program?

No, the only 2 items that get installed are the .NET Framework 2.0 and the KELOLAND.com Desktop application.

The KELOLAND.com Desktop does not send any personal information from your computer to KELOLAND the only data that is transferred to or from your computer is weather, closings and alerts.

#6   What are the system requirement for running KELOLAND.com Desktop

• Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows ME; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Service Pack 2



• Required Software:
  Windows Installer 3.0 (except for Windows 98/ME, which requires Windows Installer 2.0 or later). Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
  IE 5.01 or later: You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework.



• Disk Space Requirements:
  Microsoft .NET 2.0 (x86) - 280 MB
  KELOLAND.com Desktop < 1MB

#8   Why do I need to install the .NET Framework 2.0?

KELOLAND.com Desktop was built using the .NET Framework 2.0 to take advantage of new web features, ease application development and maintenance and most importantly to give you the added benefits of increased application security.

It will also allow future upgrades to be delivered on a timely basis.

#9   Why does the temperature not display or it displays N/A?

This can occur for a couple of reasons.

1. The server that checks the weather is currently down.


2. The server doesn't have a current temp to display.


3. You are not connected to the internet when you start the application.

If you right click on the temp in the taskbar and hit the refresh menu it will attempt to update with the latest data. If the temp still doesn't update wait a few minutes and try again.
