2:13pm: Channel 57 translator at Lake Andes back on air.

Behind the Scenes: DTV Transition Day.  This outlines the process we will follow to turn off Analog and finish the DTV Transition.

KELO: 9:30 am CT – KELO engineer shuts down the analog transmitter.
We will leave channel 32 digital on until the channel 11 antenna transmission line is switched from the analog transmitter to the digital transmitter.
When the transmission line is switched and the analog transmission line filter is bypassed, we will shut down the UHF channel 32 digital transmitter and bring on the VHF channel 11 digital transmitter.
We expect the above to take about 15 minutes. At this point, viewers will need to rescan.

Engineer then heads to our translator near Lake Andes – channel 57.
Channel 57 translator will be off until about 1 PM. (It will automatically go off at 9:30 when KELO analog goes off). Engineer rewires the translator to take the digital signal from channel 11 and convert it to analog – This translator will remain analog for now.

KDLO: 9:30 am CT – KDLO engineer will shut down the analog transmitter. He expects to back on the air with the digital channel 3 within 5 minutes. KDLO’s system requires a patch panel change and not any further transmission line changes. At this point, viewers will need to rescan.

On a side note… the Aberdeen channel 24 analog translator will NOT be affected. It will continue on with no interruption in analog.

KPLO and KCLO: 9:30 am CT/8:30 am MT – Engineers will shut down the analog transmitters for KPLO and KCLO. There will be no disruption in digital service.
