By the time you watch our evening news on Friday, KELO-TV will be broadcasting entirely in the DTV signal. And for those of you using antennas to get our broadcasts, you'll want to make sure its working correctly.

When KELO-TV joins the rest in the nation in the DTV switch, your antenna will be an important tool in helping you tune in to our broadcasts.  While the DTV signal is clearer and more channels are available, There's the possibility that your reception will get interrupted with noise or pixilation, just as it would with analog signals.

"DTV signals are more susceptible to some interference problems, reflections, and obstructions. So you may need to reposition your antenna," KELO-TV Director of Marketing & Creative Services Paul Farmer said.

You can do that by visiting AntennaWeb.org. If you type in your address, the website will suggest the best type of antenna to use and even which direction to point it.

Depending on where you live, the site will suggest that you'll need to upgrade to an outdoor antenna to get the best signal, while many others are just fine using an indoor antenna. But no mattter where its placed, flexibility is key when looking for our signal.

"There are some indoor antennas that are better than others, you'll want to have an indoor antenna that is capable of receiving both UHF and VHF signals, as that way you'll be able to get the most DTV channels," Farmer said.
