DTV Switch Could Be Delayed

Some said it would take an act of Congress to delay the switch to digital television, planned for February 17.  And apparently, that has happened.

The Senate has voted to delay the switch over from analog to digital television broadcasting. Under the new bill, that deadline would be postponed until June 12. The House still needs to vote, but it is expected to pass similar legislation extending the transition.

The reprieve is a response to concerns that an estimated 6.5 million U.S. households aren't ready and will go dark when the switch over to digital occurs. It's estimated that 13.5 million households will require a converter box.
Whether this move will affect viewers in KELOLAND is still up in the air. At this point, KELOLAND-TV plans to go ahead with its planned switch over on February 17.
