YANKTON, SD -
Yankton County is spending up to $50,000 to place rock riprap near a bridge over the James River to prevent further shoreline erosion.
The erosion problems at the bridge on Old Highway 50 date back 20 years but were exacerbated by flooding last year.
Replacing the 60-year-old bridge would cost an estimated $4.8 million.
The riprap work is to be done next week.
