Yankton officials say the city's water treatment system is operating at full capacity for the first time since March.
The water intake in the Missouri River had been covered by a sandbar for five months, but it now has been raised so it can collect water at full capacity.
Officials say the intake went from drawing in 3,600 gallons a minute to just 800 gallons when it became covered with sand.
Officials say the sand was piled four feet deep over the intake at one point, but divers recently were able to lift the intake above the sand.
