A University of South Dakota football player charged in what authorities say is a federal tax fraud and identity theft scheme will not play this weekend.
University spokeswoman Tena Haraldson says no formal disciplinary action has been taken against 20-year-old Christopher Lundy, but that he will not play against South Dakota State on Saturday "due to the circumstances."
Lundy is a sophomore defensive back from Tampa, Fla. He is among nine people charged in federal court in South Dakota in what authorities say was a scheme to defraud the Internal Revenue Service out of more than $1 million. He has pleaded not guilty.
Haraldson says the suspects also include four former USD football players and a former track athlete.
