Garretson Man Killed In Armored Van Crash

VERMILLION, SD -
A Garretson man who was riding in an armored van on Interstate 29 died after it crashed just north of the Vermillion exit Tuesday morning.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Justin Wehde was killed when the van lost control on icy conditions, went into the median, rolled across the oncoming lanes of traffic and landed in the opposite ditch.
Thirty-three-year-old Andrea Jacobsen of Sioux Falls was driving and has serious, non-life threatening injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Twenty-six-year-old Matthew Thompson, also of Sioux Falls, was riding in the vault of the vehicle and was thrown out of the van. He also has serious, non-life threatening injuries.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
