South Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson is addressing more than 560 graduates at the University of South Dakota on Saturday.
The 1975 USD graduate is the keynote speaker for USD's 37th winter commencement at the DakotaDome. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. CST.
The northeast South Dakota native was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1995 and retained by voters in 1998 and 2006. He took on the high court's top spot in September 2001.
Gilbertson previously was in private practice and has served as a deputy state's attorney and an attorney for several municipalities and school districts.
