Pilot Identified In Plane Crash In Vermillion

VERMILLION, SD -

Clay County authorities have released the name of the pilot killed in a plane crash near Vermillion on Friday.

Investigators say 75-year-old Lowell Rahn of Newcastle, Nebraska had just taken off and was possibly returning to the Vermillion airport when his plane went down into a corn field, sparking a fire.

The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
