Extensive structural damage from a deadly house fire has kept authorities from being able to do an interior investigation.
The fire broke out last Saturday morning at the home on North Main Avenue in Sioux Falls. Three children died in the fire, which spread so quickly, rescue crews were unable to get to the kids in time. Sixteen-year-old Michael Hensley, 12-year-old Savannah Coon and six-year-old Alivia Coon will be remembered at funeral services on Monday, December 31.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says the home, which was built in 1900, suffered extensive structural damage. It must be reinforced before investigators will be able to work inside of it.
A private investigation company has been hired by an involved insurance company to examine the fire scene.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Sioux Falls Police Department continue to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. Authorities say they will release information as more details are available.
