Make A Difference Day: Call For Volunteers
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Senator George McGovern was a passionate man with many goals to help organizations all over the world. One of those causes was to feed the hungry.

McGovern worked with Feeding South Dakota to make sure the people of South Dakota had access to food.

The Backpack Program in Sioux Falls has a similar goal; it helps get food to school kids that need it the most.

Senator McGovern worked in many different organizations to help get food to the hungry, whether it was here in the U-S or overseas.   It was through his life experiences that he saw how great the need really was.

This weekend, a group of volunteers will work together to give back.  Saturday kicks off Make A Difference Day in Sioux Falls when volunteers come together to give back to a number of local organizations.

The Siouxland Libraries will hold a food drive for Feeding South Dakota and Kids Against Hunger will pack lunches for the Backpack Program, which is open to the public.

People interested in volunteering as part of Make A Difference Day can find a variety of projects available at the Washington Pavilion between 9 a.m. and noon.
