Authorities are back at the scene of a fire that killed three children in central Sioux Falls one month ago.
On December 22, Rhiannon White and her husband were the only ones who were able to escape the fire. Their 16-year-old son and 12 and six-year-old daughters all died in the fire.
Tuesday, investigators were finally able to go in the house and dig through the rubble to look for the cause.
Authorities haven’t been able to go into the house because it needed to be structurally reinforced. It also had to be thawed out and then dried out so investigators could safely comb through the debris.
In the weeks following the fire Rhiannon White was arrested for possession of drugs after blood tests from her emergency room visit showed she had methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana in her system.
White is scheduled to appear in court on those charges Wednesday.
We will have the latest on the investigation into the cause of the fire later today on KELOLAND News and KELOLAND.com.
