SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Sioux Falls police have arrested a suspect in the murder of 50-year-old Crescencio "Chris" Conde-Vargas.

Twenty-two-year-old Robert C. Bass III of Sioux Falls is charged with second degree murder and an alternate count of first degree manslaughter.

Investigators say Bass and Conde-Vargas were recent acquaintances who were drinking together early Saturday morning when a fight broke out around 4 a.m.  They say at some point, Bass used a baseball bat to hit Conde-Vargas several times including in the head, fracturing his skull.

Officials are unsure how long it took Conde-Vargas to die, but it appears he did not die instantly.  They believe he was still alive when Bass left the home.  Conde-Vargas' body was not found until Monday afternoon when he did not show up to work.

Bass is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
