The golf carts are lined up, the clubs are out, and golfers are signing up for tee times in December.
It's a rare occasion for golfers in the region but it's the second year in a row that temperatures have allowed Elmwood Golf Course to open in December.
The golfers who get to begin teeing off Saturday morning are giving the course a tremendous boost.
"Well obviously we don't have any money budgeted so it's revenue that is unanticipated. But you know the days are so short. It's not like a summer day or something like that but it sure helps," Dakota Golf Management President Tom Jansa said.
Jansa says they can open the course when temperatures reach 50 degrees or higher in the winter, which is pretty unusual.
"It's starting to become common play; this is the second year in a row. December golf has been pretty rare. I've been back 25 years and there were only two December golfs I think. So to have two in a row is pretty amazing," Jansa said.
Managers at Elmwood will evaluate the weather every weekend and make a decision whether to open.
There are still tee times available to tee off this weekend. The course is scheduled to be open Saturday through Monday.
