Child Dies After Crash At Construction Site

SIOXU FALLS, SD -

An eight-year-old girl is dead following a crash in western Sioux Falls Thursday night. Police say the driver, 46-year-old Michelle J. Lee, blacked out from an apparent medical condition.

It happened just before 8 p.m. at the Prairie west Branch Library construction site at 26th Street and Discovery Avenue.

A witness saw a speeding 2009 Toyota Camry veer off the road, plow through a fence and eventually crash into a construction trailer.

Both Lee and her daughter were wearing seatbelts. Her daughter later died at the hospital. Lee was treated for minor injuries.
