'No Travel Advisory' Issued For Western South Dakota
Published: January 11, 2013, 1:49 PMParts of Interstate 90 and roads in the southern Black Hills are under a 'no travel advisory' due to a winter storm that is moving across western South Dakota.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the Department of Transportation has issued the advisory. On Interstate 90, it's in place from milepost 67, east of Rapid City, to milepost 130 at Cactus Flats.
Anyone traveling across South Dakota is being warned about the storm that is expected to bring heavy snowfall and extremely high winds to the western, central and northeast parts of the state. It could create difficult driving conditions Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Dense fog is expected in southeast South Dakota Friday and overnight into Saturday morning. High winds and cold temperatures may create slick conditions on the roads.
SDDOT crews will plow until the early evening hours as conditions allow. Work will be suspended overnight and resume around 5 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting.
