Mayor's Stationary Costs Causing Rapid City Ruckus
Sam Kooiker

RAPID CITY, SD -

Some city council members in Rapid City are questioning the amount of money that Mayor Sam Kooiker spends on stationary.

Kooiker has billed the city $3,700 for personal note cards since he took office. While supporters say the practice provides a personal touch, others believe he is using taxpayer money to campaign.

Kooiker said in an email to a city alderman that the note cards are an official response to issues and it's something that should be expected.

The item has been placed on the agenda for Monday's city council meeting, which Kooiker sarcastically calls a "cause for celebration."

:It apparently means we have resolved all the other issues facing our city," Kooiker said.
