RAPID CITY, SD -
The general manager of the Rapid City Rush minor league hockey team has apologized for an intermission event that went awry and resulted in college students vomiting on the ice.
The "College Olympics" intermission event last Friday pitted students in a relay game that involved running on the ice, riding on a cooler, spinning around a hockey stick and chugging beers. Two students vomited, one of them twice.
Season ticket holder Tom Regan says he was disgusted. Rush General Manager Tim Hill says he's been fielding phone calls from other upset fans.
Hill says the event was meant to be fun but "went completely wrong." He says he apologizes on behalf of the organization. He says the game wasn't appropriate and won't be repeated.
