LNI Art Show Runs Alongside Basketball Tournament
RAPID CITY, SD -

An art show that runs alongside the Lakota Nation Invitational basketball tournament has been displaying works by students from 15 schools across the state.

The artwork that had been on display at the Civic Center through Saturday evening included painting, sculpture, basketry and pottery.

Organizer Mike Poland says the show has been going on for about 15 years, and there are currently 20 categories of art. He says the basketball tournament turns out to be a good time to display the other results of student activities.

The 36th annual tournament kicked off Wednesday. In addition to basketball, the event includes wrestling, archery, cheerleading competitions, a Lakota Language Bowl and a knowledge bowl.
