SD Man Plaintiff In $1.1B Lawsuit Settlement
RAPID CITY, SD -

A South Dakota man is one of the plaintiffs in a $1.1 billion lawsuit settlement over alleged price-fixing for flat screens for televisions and laptops.

A group of 10 companies, including Sharp, Samsung and Toshiba, agreed to the settlement in October.

The settlement affects people who bought a product with an LCD screen from 1999 through 2006. LCD is a common type of flat-screen television. The letters stand for "liquid crystal display."

Consumers affected by the alleged price fixing have until Dec. 6 to file a claim.

Chris Bessette of Rapid City was one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

There was an "incredible" amount of money at stake.

The settlement affects consumers in 24 states, including North Dakota and South Dakota.
