A Minnesota couple's plans to build a concert venue in the Black Hills for a renowned Native American musician is one step closer to fruition.
The Pennington County Planning Commission approved Barbara and John Majchrzak's plans Tuesday to build a concert venue at the High Country Guest Ranch in Hill City for musician Brule. The couple plans to buy the ranch property in February and move from their home in Minnesota.
The open-air facility will have seating for several hundred fans.
The venue will be specifically for Brule and his band AIRO, or American Indian Rock Opera.
Brule, whose real name is Paul LaRoche, has sold more than one million albums worldwide. He is a member of the Lower Brule Tribe.
