SD Officials Hold Seminar On Treating Pine Beetles
PIERRE, SD -

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture is hosting a free seminar this week on the treatment of mountain pine beetles in the Black Hills.

The meeting in Hill City will help landowners understand options for treating infested trees this fall and winter. Information will be presented by two entomologists, Kurt Allen of the U.S. Forest Service and John Ball of South Dakota State University.

State forester Ray Sowers says the mountain pine beetles have stopped flying for the year, so now is the time to deal with newly infested trees.

The seminar will be held at 6 p.m. MDT Thursday at the Slate Creek Grill in Hill City.
