Attempted Murder Case In Hands Of Jury
PIERRE, SD -

A Hughes County jury is deliberating in the case of a Fort Pierre man charged with attempted murder.

The jury left the courtroom about 10 a.m. Friday after closing arguments.

Derek Boe is accused of shooting a shotgun into a vehicle occupied by his girlfriend last January. He faces four charges including attempted first degree murder.

Hughes County State's Attorney Kelly Marnette told jurors that Boe meant to kill the Pierre woman after she rammed his vehicle three times.

Defense attorney Brad Schreiber told jurors that Boe was using the gun to shoot out the windows, not harm the woman.
