The Pierre Governor football program has a new head coach. Jayson Poppenga received the approval of the Pierre School Board at Monday night’s School Board meeting.
Poppenga has past coaching experience in Fargo, North Dakota as well as in the Kansas City area. He has been an assistant coach for the Governors the last two years.
Poppinga will replace Joe Kramer who is retiring from coaching and teaching at the end of the school year.
Poppenga will inherit a program that has made it to the second round of the state high school football playoffs, 3 of the last 4 years.
