Dead Skunks In Garbage Creating Stink In Pierre
PIERRE, SD -

The city of Pierre has an unusual request for residents: Please don't put dead skunks in the garbage.

South Dakota's capital city has been dealing with an influx of skunks as hot weather drives the critters in search of food and water, leading to a waiting list for city traps. City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says many residents are killing skunks themselves on their property and dumping the carcasses in garbage that gets hauled to the city's baling facility.

Huizenga says that has led to an odorous problem for the workers at the baling facility. He says property owners who take care of skunks themselves can take the carcasses to the baling facility and drop them off separately, "no questions asked."
