Cause Of Fatal Fire In Mitchell To Remain Unknown

Authorities have finished their investigation into a fatal mobile home fire in Mitchell without determining the cause.

Public Safety Chief Lyndon Overweg says officials determined the fire that killed 59-year-old Cheryl Roop likely started in the home's living room area. The specific cause remains unknown but authorities say the fire is not suspicious.

The home was destroyed in the early Saturday blaze. Roop's daughter, infant grandchild and a man were able to escape but were treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.
