Escaped Huron Inmate Armed and Dangerous
Charles Leroy Beeney

HURON, SD -

The Beadle County Sheriff's Department is asking people in the Huron area to lock their doors after an inmate escaped from the Beadle County Correctional Center.

Officials say Charles Leroy Beeney escaped from the Huron Jail at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and held a correctional officer hostage. The officer was forced to release Beeney along with his personal clothing items. He is armed with a makeshift weapon.

Beeney is a 45-year-old white man, 5'11" tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has blue eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. He is originally from Kansas and was arrested for aggravated eluding.

Beeney is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you see Beeney, do not approach him and call police immediately.
