Five years after Aberdeen public schools introduced its English as a Second Language program, it's grown to more than 40 students speaking nine languages.
Reports say that the program is growing on pace with the community.
The population has steadily increased since it was announced in 2006 that a beef packing plant would open.
The plant opening has been delayed for years, but the more people have moved to the city regardless.
The ESL program began with 16 students during the 2008-09 school year.
Assistant Superintendent Becky Guffin says an official ESL student count for the 2012-13 school year won't be available until January, but that the district has more new students this year than in previous years.
