Labor Department To Hold Meetings For Workers
ABERDEEN, SD -

The South Dakota Department of Labor will host a meeting Monday for laid-off employees of wind turbine blade manufacturer Molded Fiber Glass.

Aberdeen plant manager Dave Giovannini says 92 are being laid off from the plant.

Giovannini says the layoffs are due to a reduction in orders for wind blades and uncertainty over federal production tax credit incentives.

Owners and builders of wind farms get a federal tax credit based on the amount of electricity generated. The tax credit is set to expire at the end of the year, and developers have been hesitant to commit to projects without assurance that the tax credit will continue.

Laid-off employees will receive a financial package including a health care benefit and some profit sharing.
