KELOLAND is my home. I am proud to say that I was born in Sioux Falls at what is now Sanford Health. Email Matt
I got my start in the news business at a young age while I was a student at Washington High School. During my time there, I was an editor for the school paper, the "News of Washington." After that, I attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where I graduated from in the spring of 2006 with a degree in Theatre and Communications.
I started at KELOLAND TV right out of college in 2006 as the Rapid City Bureau Reporter. I worked in Rapid for a year and a half before getting deployed with my Marine Corps unit for 12 months to Camp Lejeune and eventually Djibouti, Africa.
When I returned from active duty, I came back to KELOLAND in a new role as the Midday/HealthBeat producer. After about a year, I transitioned into a new position as the Weekend Sports Anchor before landing the Sports Director gig. I had a great time covering sports in the area but in 2014 I moved into my current position as a co-anchor of KELOLAND This Morning.
Some random facts about me would be: I am married to a very kind and beautiful lady named Grace, I have three kids, I am a veteran, and I have wonderful parents, two awesome brothers and family who live in the area and raise an army of pug dogs.
