Grant is from Kansas where he fell in love with the weather. Every time a storm passed by, he would watch the rain fall from his front window and if there was severe weather, he would go outside in hopes of seeing something interesting. But Grant wasn’t always on the track to being a meteorologist.
He started high school wanting to be an architect. After taking a few computer drafting classes, and seeing how much work goes into creating building plans, he no longer wanted to be an architect. Then one day, Grant was watching the news to get the weather forecast, it clicked that he could do that. So at the age of 14, he decided to be a TV meteorologist.
After visiting a few schools, he made his decision to go to the University of Kansas and in 2012; he graduated with a Bachelors in Atmospheric Science with a Minor in Mathematics. His first job as a meteorologist was at 6News, a local new station in Lawrence, KS, where he started as a fill in and worked his way up to the weekend meteorologist. After working there for a little under year, Grant found his way to KELOLAND here in Sioux Falls where he is the current weekend meteorologist.
Grant enjoys anything having to do with being outside. So you might find him camping, fishing, golfing or playing basketball. March is his favorite month but only because of March Madness and winter snow storms are his favorite type of weather. Email Grant
