For as long as I can remember my summers, falls, winters, and springs were spent playing one sport or another just up I-29 in Madison, South Dakota. From the basketball court to the softball diamond if I wasn’t playing I was watching my younger brother tear up the football field or run around the track. My dad was a coach so I spent a lot of time painting football fields with my brother until the lines were too crooked and we were demoted. I shed a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in a Bulldog uniform before moving on to a USD Coyote women’s basketball uniform for a couple of years.
In high school, I interned with KJAM Radio in Madison and did color for a few boys’ basketball games. That’s when I confirmed what I had known for forever: my dream was to work in the sports broadcasting field. As you can see, sports have played a huge role in my life, which is why I am so excited to be a part of the KELOLAND Sports Department.
I went to USD and participated in KAOR radio and KYOT-TV on campus. The summer before my final semester I knew I had to look for an internship or a job of some sort with a television station which led me here, to KELO-TV. In August 2015 I began work as a production assistant. Before long I was working as a weekend reporter and then a full-time addition to the KELOLAND This Morning Team. All were great experiences but I always kept my eye on the sports department which leads me here. After about 11 months on the morning show, I applied for and accepted the Weekend Sports Anchor job. Sports are most definitely my passion and I look forward to sharing that with all of you!
It’s been fun to go back to so many of the gyms that I played in growing up and to share the success of athletes across KELOLAND! If you have any stories that we should know about please feel free to send them my way and we’ll try to get your team on KELOLAND.
