Despite a strong effort, the University of Sioux Falls volleyball team had their season come to an end as they fell to No. 2 ranked Northwestern College in three sets (25-21, 25-20 and 26-24) Saturday evening in Orange City, Iowa. USF ends their season with a record of 19-19 overall.
Junior libero Rachel Heeney (S. Sioux City, Neb.) finished an stellar season as she recorded a game best 20 digs. For the season she finished with 799, fifth in the NAIA.
Junior setters Samantha Haffke (Bellevue, Neb.) and Amber Sneller (Sioux Center, Iowa) had productive nights, as they came up with 15 and 13 assists, respectively.
It was a season of improvement for the Cougars, as they finished the year with four more overall victories (19) and four more conference victories than one season ago. In addition, they won a GPAC tournament game for the first time since 2003.
