Ben Dunsmoor
I've called KELOLAND home since July 2005, and in that time I've experienced all that South Dakota and the surrounding states has to offer, and made some great friends along the way. Starting out as the KELO bureau reporter in Aberdeen I traveled to many places in the northeastern and northcentral parts of the state covering stories and breaking news in almost every county on the eastern half of South Dakota.
In December 2006 I made the move to the big city, Sioux Falls, and now work as the NightBeat reporter. Working an aggressive schedule and covering all of those big stories that happen as many are just sitting down to eat dinner. And that's what I love about my job; being able to inform viewers about the biggest news events in KELOLAND.
Before moving to South Dakota I came from a rural community in the "Northwoods" of Wisconsin called Rhinelander where I had my first reporting job after graduating from Saint Cloud State University with a degree in Mass Communications. I worked at the NBC affiliate there, WJFW, which was only 30 miles from my hometown of Eagle River where I grew up enjoying all the trees, lakes, and recreation.
I now call the plains of South Dakota home with my wife Trista and dog Sam, but I still keep track of my Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Please, feel free to send me an e-mail with a story idea so I can share it with the rest of our friends in KELOLAND.
