UPDATED 5:45 p.m.

Police say he beat another man unconscious, stomping on his head and then dropping his knee down on it as well.

Now 22-year-old Elvis Fast Horse of Wakpala could be charged with murder.

It happened at a house in Mobridge Friday.  When police arrived they found 38-year-old Terry Four Bear unconscious.

“Extremely severe assault,” Mobridge Police Chief Mike Nehls said.

Four Bear was taken to the Mobridge hospital and then transferred to Bismarck. Police say he hasn't regained consciousness.

Authorities arrested Fast Horse the next day. He’s currently charged with aggravated assault.

“If the victim does pass on at St. A's in Bismarck, North Dakota, there's a possibility our state's attorney, our local prosecutor will charge him with the charge of either murder or manslaughter,” Nehls said.

Nehls said alcohol was a factor in this case. The Division of Criminal Investigation is also involved in the investigation.
