Authorities are releasing new details about a deadly Sioux Falls accident early Sunday morning.
Investigators say 23-year-old Tiana Leamons was behind the wheel of a car that was traveling at speeds over 90 miles an hour as she made her way north on Louise Avenue. The Sunday morning chase lasted just two minutes, but it spanned several blocks and went through a handful of major intersections between Interstate 229 and Interstate 29. The car finally stopped after crashing into four trees near Lowes on W 26th Street.
"It's tough to get the force it takes to destroy or pull trees out of the ground, but there were four trees that were hit. Three of them pulled completely out of the ground out of the boulevard," Sioux Falls Police Lt. Jerome Miller said.
Investigators say alcohol was involved in the deadly crash.
Authorities say Leamons had at least one prior DUI and a revoked license. The Sioux Falls woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
