This October is already following the past two very wet Octobers.  Sioux Falls measured five and a half inches of rain last October and six inches in 2007. So far, more than two inches has fallen in Sioux Falls this month. It already puts us past the total amount of rain from September.

But Sioux Falls isn't the only area taking a bath in the rain this month. Mitchell, Pierre, Watertown and Mobridge also join in with rain amounts over last month.

Parts of northeast KELOLAND are continuing to soak in the rain, including some areas with two to five inches. Go back to last month, and you see rain amounts from the James River Valley and east from 2" to 6".

While the wet weather will slow the harvest, there is a dry stretch coming. After Thursday's small chance for rain or light snow, skies will clear for the weekend and into next week but the temperature will plummet. Many locations will get their first hard freeze of the season this weekend.
