The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Sioux Falls is sponsoring a vigil and candlelight walk this evening as part of a kickoff to Mental Illness Awareness Week.
The 8-block walk will be preceded by speakers and special music at First Lutheran Church beginning at 6:30.

The best huskers in South Dakota are gathering northeast of Flandreau for the South Dakota State Hand Corn Husking Contest.
Registration begins at 11 am at the Melvin Kiecksee farm.
The husking begins at 12:30 pm.
It's free to watch, and lunch will be served on the grounds.

The Watertown Quilt Festival is being held at the Codington County Extension Service this weekend.
The festival features hundreds of quilts plus free demonstrations from noon to four.
Admission is three-dollars.

Living Springs Church in Brandon is hosting "The Pumpkin Project, Seeds of Hope."
It's a pumpkin sale from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Prices for pumpkins range from three dollars up to ten dollars, depending upon the size of the pumpkins.
The money raised will go to help kids in Guatemala and to a fund to help families with the cost of adoption.

St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake is hosting its annual Fall Festival.
A turkey dinner will be served from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
There will also be raffles, a bake sale, silent auction and kid games.

St. Stephen's Parish in Bridgewater is holding its 68th annual Sausage Supper from three to 7 pm.
The cost is $8.50 for adults and three-dollars for kids under twelve.

It's Pumpkin Picking Days at the Garden of Weedin' in Valley Springs.
You can pick pumpkins from 11 am to 7 pm for one-dollar per pumpkin.
