Showers and t-storms have developed overnight in central SD and those areas of rain will develop during the day with better chance of rain in Sioux Falls in the late afternoon and evening. Rainfall could be locally heavy with these storms with some severe weather possible this afternoon from Gregory to Yankton and points south. As a general rule, .25”-.75” should fall between Pierre and Sioux Falls through tomorrow morning.
Otherwise, look for highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s in the east today. Chances of rain will decrease east of I-29 and north of Watertown. Highs in the west will be warmer in the lower 80s.
For tonight, look for more scattered rain in the south and southeast. That rain could even linger into Thursday AM in the southeast. Highs will still be cool in the east in the lower 70s tomorrow…but a warmer trend is forecast this weekend with highs returning to the upper 70s and lower 80s. The west will be warmer through the extended forecast with highs in the mid 80s in both Pierre and Rapid City. The chance of rain will enter the picture by Labor Day…but the system has slowed down enough to hold off the rain to mainly Monday and Tuesday.
