Authorities in Moody County are investigating the cause of a house fire. It broke out around 11 p.m. Wednesday on a farm three miles west of Trent.

By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was already engulfed in flames.  They quickly had it under control.

The homeowner was in the house at the time and was able to safely escape.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

 A fund for the family is set up at the First National Bank in Dell Rapids under the name Joseph Peters.
