A South Dakota man took the nation's largest meat packers to court for knowingly underpaying cattle producers. Herman Schumacher of Herreid and two other men sued the meat packers and initially won. But an appeals court overturned the ruling last year.
Schumacher says there is a lien on his house until he pays Tyson Fresh Foods thousands of dollars in court costs. And now Tyson is responding to the comments.
Tyson said it sent a reminder letter to Schumacher's attorney in January asking for payment within ten days. It's been more than five months since then. So on Monday, Tyson sent another letter to Schumacher explaining the company's position.
