A temporary exhibit that tells the 100-year history of the state Capitol is set to open next weekend at the state Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.

The exhibit is called "The People's House: Celebrating the Century." It will open next Friday in a black tie optional gala for state Historical Society and South Dakota Heritage Fund members. The exhibit opens to the public next Saturday and will remain open through 2010.

Heritage Fund President and former First Lady Pat Miller says the exhibit will tell the history of the Capitol through photos, historical items and interactive features.

Miller says Fridays gala is a Heritage Fund fundraiser. Money raised will help fund state Historical Society projects.
