Authorities have filed formal charges against a Britton man accused of shooting at two Deuel County sheriff's deputies.
Authorities initially charged 29-year-old Jacob James Stark with two counts of attempted murder, but he is now charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.
Deputies were called to an abandoned farmstead near Gary early in the morning of April 19 on a report of an assault.
The court complaint accuses Stark of firing several gunshots after the officers made verbal contact with him.
Stark surrendered peacefully about six hours later.
He's being held in the Codington County Detention Center in Watertown on $500,000 cash bond.
