Matthew and Rowena Schade appeared Tuesday in Pierce County District Court to answer to probation violations
related to the 800-mile roundtrip that took the family to western South Dakota and back. Both were assigned court-appointed attorneys and ordered back to court on April 30.
The Schades were convicted in the burglary of a grocery store in Plainview, in Pierce County. According to court documents, each was ordered to serve three years' probation from 2006 to 2009.
The Schades left their Creighton home after being questioned March 20 about domestic-abuse allegations. They turned themselves in to authorities on April 6.
