We again have areas of dense fog, clouds, and rain in eastern KELOLAND, while snow is coating roads west of the Missouri River into the Black Hills. A winter weather advisory is in effect for both Pierre and Rapid City today and tomorrow. Snowfall amounts up to 4” are possible in Pierre, with around 3-6” in Rapid City.
This system will continue to produce rain in the southeast and another surge of heavier rain is likely tomorrow. The rain/snow line will stay west of Sioux Falls tomorrow, but the James Valley could certainly see some accumulation tomorrow night into Friday. Rainfall and moisture totals of 1” or more are possible in southeastern KELOLAND. This is on top of the totals from yesterday, which generally ranged from .25”-.50”. Pierre had 1” of rain. All of this moisture will cause rivers and streams to rise as snowmelt combined with the rain will enhance the runoff. Showers may linger into the weekend along with some clouds as this slow moving storm is very stubborn to move away. Highs will stay in the 30s in eastern KELOLAND, with 40s in the central and west this weekend.
